In emulsion coatings, HEC prevents pigment gelation, promotes pigment dispersion, stabilizes the emulsion, and enhances system viscosity. It has excellent compatibility with other formulation components including pigments, additives, fillers, and salts. Coatings thickened with HEC exhibit good rheological performance and pseudoplasticity at various shear rates, offering excellent application properties and leveling. It can be applied by brushing, rolling, or spraying with minimal dripping, sagging, or spattering.
